Catarina Botelho (1981) lives and works in Lisbon. She attended the “Independent Studies Program” at the MACBA - Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (2017/2018), the “Photography Course - Gulbenkian Creativity and Creation Programme” a the Gulbenkian Foundation (2007), the Photography Course in AR.CO Lisboa (2007), the Maumaus School of Visual Arts in Lisbon (2005) and she undertook a Bachelor’s Degree in Painting at the Fine Arts Faculty of the University of Lisbon (2004).
Catarina Botelho attended several artistic residencies, such as “Una ficción en la realidad (Arte, política y arquitectura)”, Fundación Botín (2014), “FAAP Programa de Residências”, São Paulo (2013) and “Residency Cml/Budapest Galery”, Budapest (2010). She also won the “European Photo Exhibition Award 01” and the “Bes Revelation Prize 2007”.
Amongst her last important exhibitions we can highlight “Variations Portugaises”, Abbaye Saint André - Centre d'Art Contemporain, Meymac, France (2018), “Olhares Contemporâneos”, Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, Lisbon (2012); “Edp New Artist Prize Exhibition”,Edp Foundation, Electricity Museum – Lisbon (2011); “Exhibition Gulbenkian Criativity and Creation Programme”, Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon (2008).
Catarina Botelho’s work is represented in public and private collections in Portugal and abroad, such as BES – Banco Espírito Santo Collection, Américo Santos Collection, EDP Foundation, PLMJ Foundation, Fundacion Fotocolectania, Regional Government of Azores Collection.
